Description of activity
I am an Associate Professor (Tenure Track) at the University of Eastern Finland, specialising in Ecosystem Services and Climate Change (UEF//ECOSERV). My research focuses on how natural and anthropogenic disturbances—such as wildfires and land-use changes—impact biogeochemical processes, with implications for climate change mitigation and ecosystem resilience.
I am particularly keen on bridging fundamental ecological research with applied solutions for sustainable ecosystem management. My work includes forest restoration, prescribed burning, and the exchange of greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4, N2O), alongside water quality impacts. Current and previous projects cover the Boreal forest zone, including Scandinavia and the Baltic region, as well as Canada and China.
