This guideline development process received support from Novo Nordisk Germany, MSD Germany, The Swedish Diabetes Association, Abbott Nutrition, The Finnish Diabetes Association, The Norwegian Diabetes Association, the German Diabetes Association, the National Diabetes Association in Sweden and The Uppsala Diabetes Centre in the form of educational grants. These grants were managed by the not-for-profit organisation DiabCom and only used to facilitate meetings of the Guideline Development Group. The Healthier Lives National Science Challenge of New Zealand funded the design of the graphical abstract. The funders had no role in developing guideline scope, systematic review processes, evidence grading, guideline content, or the release of the guidelines.
